Donogh undertook Arbitration Training in 1973 under the auspices of the RIAI. He then joined the Institute of Arbitrators UK (there being no Irish branch at that time) in 1974. From time to time‚ on the nomination of the President of the RIAI‚ he undertook arbitration cases. With the changes to the building contract documents, he was appointed Conciliator to many disputes.

In 2007‚ he joined the Irish Branch of the CIArb. In 2009‚ he undertook a course in Civil and Commercial Mediation under the Auspices of Friarylaw and ADR Group where he was awarded ‘Accredited Mediator’.
